Arthritis is an affliction that plagues many people. The pain can be unbearable and most medical treatments focus on symptom management. It’s something you need to live with in the long term and for many this is horrifying. Don't despair though. Here are some tips to manage your arthritis problem:

1) Do Simple Stretches
Arthritis occurs due to inflammation between key joints in the body. Though there's over 100 known types of arthritis simple activities can help with them all. Stretching not only gives the body some exercise but keeps the joints flexible. This flexibility and movement keeps the inflammation from accentuating unopposed. In fact, doctors recommend people with arthritis take up hobbies like Tai Chi or Yoga.

2) Set up A Cardio Routine
Cardio exercises keeps the blood flowing. This increased blood flow can be a blessing to joints affected by arthritis. It allows more healing properties to be brought to inflamed areas and reduces buildup.

3) Eat More Ginger
Ginger is well known for its anti-inflammatory properties and can help you quite a bit. Without needing side effect inducing pain killers, a bit of ginger daily can help cut down the debilitating inflammation. According to Mayo Clinic reliance on over the counter pain relievers is best avoided. They bring with them numerous long term side effects and diminishing returns.

4) Avoid Too Much Fried and Oily Foods
Scientific studies have shown that oily foods have inflammatory properties. Your body just doesn't like being exposed to oily stuff. Too much of these foods create an environment perfect for inflammation. Bake, not fry those potatoes instead.

5) Cut Back On Alcohol
Alcohol was historically used as a quick pain reliever and still is. You might think numbing your pain for a few hours makes it beneficial. Quite the opposite. Over the long term alcohol contains inflammatory properties that you don't want. After the numbing effects wear off the long term pain will kick in worse than before.
